Sri Guru Stotram

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुर्गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः ।
गुरुरेव परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः ॥

GURUR BRAHMA GURURVISHNU GURURDEVA MAHESHVARA
GURUREVA PARAM BRAHMA TASMAI SHRI GURAVE NAMAH

Meaning:

1.1: The Guru is Brahma, the Guru is Vishnu, the Guru Deva is Maheswara (Shiva),
1.2: The Guru is Verily the Para-Brahman (Supreme Brahman); Salutations to that Guru.

अज्ञानतिमिरान्धस्य ज्ञानाञ्जनशालाकया ।
चक्षुरुन्मीलितं येन तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः ॥

AJÑANATIMIRANDHYASYA JÑANANJAYA SHALAKAYA
CHAKSHURUNMILITAM YENA TASMAI SHRI GURAVE NAMAH

Meaning:

3.1: (Salutations to the Guru) Who Removes the Darkness of Ignorance from our Blind (Inner)
Eyes by applying the Collyrium of the Light of Knowledge.
3.2: By Whom our (Inner) Eyes are Opened; Salutations to that Guru.

अखण्डमण्डलाकारं व्याप्तं येन चराचरम् ।
तत्पदं दर्शितं येन तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः ॥

AKHANDAMANDALAKARAM VYAPTAM YENA CHARACHARAM
TATPADAM DARSHITAM YENA TASMAI SHRI GURAVE NAMAH

Meaning:

2.1: (Salutations to the Guru) Whose Form is an Indivisible Whole of Presence, and By Whom is Pervaded the Moving and the Non-Moving Beings,
2.2: By Whom is Revealed (out of Grace) That Feet (of Indivisible Presence); Salutations to that Guru.

मन्नाथः श्रीजगन्नाथो मद्गुरुः श्रीजगद्गुरुः ।
ममत्मा सर्वभूतात्मा तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः ॥

MANNATHAH SHRIJAGANNATHO MADGURUH SHRIJAGADGURUH
MAMATMA SARVABHUTATMA TASMAI SHRI GURAVE NAMAH

Meaning:

12.1: (Salutations to the Guru) My Lord is the Lord of the Universe, My Guru is the Guru of the Universe,
12.2: My Self is the Self of All Beings; Salutations to that Guru.

ध्यानमूलं गुरुर्मूर्तिः पूजामूलं गुरुर्पदम् ।
मन्त्रमूलं गुरुर्वाक्यं मोक्षमूलं गुरूर्कृपा ॥

DHYANAMULAM GURORMURTI M PUJAMULAM GUROH PADAM
MANTRAMULAM GURORVAKYAM MOKSHAMULAM GUROH KRIPA

Meaning:

1: The Root of Meditation is the Form of the Guru, The Root of Worship is the Feet of the Guru,
2: The Root of Mantra is the Word of the Guru, The Root of Liberation is the Grace of the Guru.

ब्रह्मानन्दं परमसुखदं केवलं ज्ञानमूर्तिम्
द्वन्द्वातीतं गगनसदृशं तत्त्वमस्यादिलक्ष्यम् ।

एकं नित्यं विमलमचलं सर्वधीसाक्षीभूतम् भावातीतं त्रिगुणरहितं सद्गुरुंतं नमामि ॥

Meaning:

1: (Salutations to the Sad-Guru) Who is the Bliss of Brahman, Who is the Bestower of Supreme Joy, Who is the Absolute, Who is the Embodiment of Knowledge,
2: Who is Beyond Duality, Who is Boundless and Infinite Like the Sky, Who is Indicated by Maha Vakyas Like Tat-Tvam- Asi (That-Thou- Art).
3: Who is One without the Second, Who is Eternal, Who is Stainless and Pure, Who isImmovable, Who is the Witness of the Intelligence of All Beings,
4: Who is Beyond the States of the Mind, Who is Free from the Three Gunas; Salutations to that Sad-Guru.

O self illumined one, reveal yourself!
O Rudra, protect me with your inspirations and teachings
I offer salutations and take refuge under the one who is the source of all creations, the one who enlightens the intellect and the one who grants us the Vedas.

गुरवे बुद्धिसाक्षीने
सच्चिदानंदरूपाय निर्गुणाय गुणात्मने ।

OM NAMO VEDANTAVEDYA GURAVE BUDDHISAKSHINE SACCHIDANANDARUPAYA NIRGUNAYA GUNATMANEH

I salute the one who can be realized through the Upanishads, the teachings of the Vedas and the one who witnesses the intellect. I salute the Sacchidananda Brahman.

Aum! O gods, may we hear auspicious words with the ears;
While engaged in yajnas,
May we see auspicious things with the eyes;
While praising the gods with steady limbs,
May we enjoy a life that is beneficial to the gods.
May Indra of ancient fame be auspicious to us;
May the supremely rich (or all-knowing) Pusa (god of the earth)
Be propitious to us;
May Garuda, the destroyer of evil,
Be well disposed towards us;
May Brihaspati ensure our welfare.

OM may my organs, speech, Prana, eyes and ears be nourished and be well, so should all (my) senses become strong.
Upanishad says all this (world) is Brahman.
I don’t reject Brahman, may Brahma not reject me.
Let there be no rejection, let there be no rejection at all in me, let me be concentrated on Self, all those ways of righteous living told in Upanishads be in me!

May I be able to grasp the truths of the Vedas!
Let not what I have heard (studied) forsake me! May I spend both day and night in study! I say rta (divine law), I’ll say the Truth; may that (truth) protect me!
May that (truth) protect the teacher!
May it protect me; and may it protect the speaker as well!

May the winds blow sweetly,

That Creator is Absolute, Complete and Full. This Universe is Absolutely Complete and Full. Only Absolutely Complete springs off That Absolute!
From That Absolute, even if Whole Absolute is taken out, only Absolute does remain!
